I can't say I enjoy writing about myself but if there was a place it is ok it has to be on the about page of my own website 😀.

Who am I?

As I said on the home page I am a former construction management engineer from New Zealand who has recently reinvented himself as a web developer. I live with my lovely Irish wife, our beautiful baby girl and our dog Molly in Pukerua Bay, New Zealand.

Here is a rough timeline of my life so far:

• Born 1989.
• Grow up on a dairy farm in Northland, New Zealand.
• Went to a small rural primary school (less than 50 kids).
• In 2002 I started high school. I went off to boarding school at Auckland Grammar. This had over 2000 students, all boys, and over 500 in my year alone. Quite the culture shock.
• School years were spent mostly playing sport. Cricket, rugby and to a lesser extent hockey.
• After school in 2007 I took off to England for a year. I spent the year working in a school in Penzance in Cornwall and travelled Europe in the holidays.
• In 2008 I moved to the South Island of New Zealand and began my degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Canterbury. Many great friends were made.
• Lived in Christchurch through the earthquake times.
• In 2012 I started my first job as a Site Engineer for McConnell Dowell. I moved to Taupo to work on the construction of a new geothermal power station.
• While in Taupo I learned to ski on the slopes of Mt Ruapehu across the lake, now my favourtite hobby.
• Mid 2013 I moved up to Auckland to work on the construction of the Waterview Tunnel.
• Move to Canada with my good friend Ross in 2015. We spent two winters in the beautiful Lake Louise working for the ski field, skiing everyday and spent the summer in Banff climbing mountains and hiking.
• In 2018 I moved to Wellington, NZ.
• Started a new career in sales working as a sales rep in the plumbing industry.
• Met my lovely Irish wife soon after moving to Wellington in 2018.
• Moved in together beginning of 2020.
• Covid lockdown hits March 2020.
• Begin working for Rapid Earthworks as a Project / Contract manager towards the end of 2020.
• Got engaged October 2021!
• Bought and moved into our first house together end of 2021. Purely so we could get a puppy. We are straight on a puppy list.
• Took the huge step of leaving Rapid to pursue study and a career as a software developer. Spent the year teaching myself to code.
• Our little labradoodle puppy Molly arrives.
• Started my very first job as a developer March 2023.
• Married April 2023 ❤️.
• Our beautiful baby girl arrived Febuary 2024.
• Survived the first year of parenthood.
